A larger and stronger model from the CR series from the top Sühl armorers in caliber 308 Win / 7.62×51 NATO. This weapon falls into the category of more powerful assault rifles using this widely applicable caliber. The dimensions of the rifle are adapted to the caliber, in addition, they are functionally and ergonomically equivalent to the Haenel CR223. The Haenel CR 308 semi-automatic civilian model is based on the original idea of Stoner's AR-15, but at the same time it differs in many essential design elements. Above all, it does not use the original system of direct collection of dust gases to realize the self-loading function of the weapon, but uses an indirect system of piston and push rod (Short Stroke Piston System), which provides the necessary energetic mechanical impulse to ensure reliable cycling. The entire system, including the gas block, is hidden under the handguard, which is not attached to the barrel or its structural components at any point, nor does it touch it. The stock is equipped with 4 mounting rails meeting Mil-Std. All barrels are cold forged with a 1-9″ bore in a heavy barrel design with a large outside diameter. They are mainly produced by sister company Merkel. High-quality materials and top production technologies are the main reason for the long-term service life - testing of prototypes proved a service life of 20,000 shots without loss of accuracy.
